UDEN FRYGT_WITHOUT FEAR

Judith Butler mentions, echoing Foucault that a “brave speech” is: the courage to tell the truth, despite fear, risking the consequences that “such a truth” could cau-se. Courageous discourse is a mechanism of transformative political action, enunciated exceptionally, not only by individuals but by assemblies, groups of people capable of acting on important problems that torment contemporary societies: are issues of migration, racism, or other multiple forms of violence.

Butler assures us that only by confronting the fears that are at the root of many injustices, and by forming a network of social interdependence can a living life be achieved.

The words “WITHOUT FEAR” that make up the title of Judith Butler’s book and that are at the center of my proposal, function as an act of political resistance, because, political expression is not based solely on speeches, but it can be expressed through a gesture or a movement. In this case the very (sculptural) construction action of the letters, and their fire.
