The Flag for Sudan is part of the series Longings and emerged from conversations with Zainab and Mohamed, who were forced to flee Sudan as a consequence of the current war. The Sudanese community expressed a deep desire to speak about the situation of their homeland, marked by the distress produced by the silence that continues to surround the tragic events taking place there.

The flag, created collaboratively, gathers fragments of what it means to experience war in everyday life—both from within and outside Sudanese territory—on a five-meter-long black canvas. Through words, gestures, and marks, the piece seeks to articulate experiences shaped by conflict, displacement, and memory.
